A Village by the Sea in NYC

City Island was once home to a major shipping and yachting industry, populated with mostly blue-collar workers. Its boats were often winners of the America's Cup, the world's premier yachting championship.

Though the shipyards are now closed down, there are still many yachting clubs and marinas.

As City Island has developed into valuable waterfront property, many of its residents fear the island’s identity will be lost. In their own ways, they are fighting to preserve their village by the sea.
